The NIMS identifies multiple elements of unified command in support of incident response. These elements include: (1) developing a single set of objectives; (2) using a collective, strategic approach; (3) improving information flow and coordination; (4) creating common understanding of joint priorities and restrictions; (5) ensuring that no agency’s legal authorities are compromised or neglected; and (6) optimizing the combined efforts of all agencies under a single plan. Do not confuse with national interagency incident management system (NIIMS)
