This course will focus on the initial response to incidents that may be terrorist in nature. The course is open to all emergency response and support personnel. Ideally, participants will have been trained to the hazardous materials operations level.

Personnel who are involved with fire departments, EMS agencies, hazardous materials response organizations (public, industrial, or commercial, law enforcement agencies, emergency communications centers, emergency management agencies, public works, public health, hospitals and healthcare, armed forces, security personnel, including national guard and reserves, and disaster response agencies. Topic areas include understanding and recognizing terrorism, implementing self-protection measures, scene control, tactical considerations, and incident command. Incident types examined include chemical, biological, radiological, explosive, fire as a weapon, and active shooter/hostile events (ASHE). This course utilizes scenarios, exercises, and case studies extensively and active participation is necessary to successfully complete the course.
Incident Command System (ICS)-100-level and ICS-200-level training. Preferred courses are Q0462 and Q0463, available through NFA Online. Chief's signature attests that the applicant has completed this required training.
