This interactive and fast-moving 10-day course focuses on supervisory management practices as they relate to emergency medical services (EMS) in the fire service and will enable participants to deal more effectively with day-to-day management issues that supervisory-level managers are likely to encounter.

Some of the major components of this course:

  • Personnel.
  • Resource management.
  • Quality improvement techniques.

Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to enhance the quality and overall effectiveness of their EMS operation through the use of management techniques.

Individuals with midlevel management responsibility for an EMS delivery system:

  • Battalion/division chief.
  • Captain.
  • Shift supervisor.

Incident Command System (ICS)-100-level and ICS-200-level training. Preferred courses are Q0462 and Q0463, available through NFA Online.  Chief’s signature attests that the applicant has completed this required training.
