The 2020 Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO Program) Graduate Symposium will be held on April 17-19, 2020, at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Hosted by the National Fire Academy (NFA) and the Executive Fire Officer Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the 2020 EFO Program Graduate Symposium will include 2 days of:

  • Information sharing
  • Education
  • Networking
  • Discussions about some of the strategic aspects of our profession.
  • Presentations of the academic programs’ outstanding research papers.

The symposium is open to all fire service leaders and related professions; priority in housing is given to EFO Program alumni.

Current EFO Program students are encouraged to attend.

All fire service executives are welcome to bring their colleagues in government management.

General attendees, please remember there is no travel stipend available for this program, though lodging is available. People staying in on-campus housing are required to purchase a meal ticket for the duration of their stay.

A draft agenda will be posted as soon as it is finalized.

Selection criteria

The invitees are graduates of the EFO Program, as well as fire and emergency medical services leadership.


There is no stipend reimbursement available for this program. 

Participants are responsible for transportation and meal costs.
