Elvis Benson Maxwell

Firefighter

Firefighter Maxwell was responding as the driver of a fire department tanker (tender) to a structure fire at night and in the rain. He lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and overturned. An EMS unit enroute to the fire came upon the scene, they discovered Firefighter/Operator Maxwell still inside of the vehicle with no vital signs. ALS was administered at the scene and enroute to the hospital however, Firefighter/Operator Maxwell was pronounced dead in the emergency room. Firefighter/Operator Maxwell was not utilizing a seat belt and he was partially ejected in the collision. The cause of death was listed as blunt trauma.

Elvis Benson Maxwell was honored on the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland and was included in the USFA’s annual report Firefighter Fatalities in the United States.
