Logan Harrison Taylor

On Aug. 18, 2022, shortly after 4 p.m., dispatchers received information regarding Firefighter Logan Taylor who was critically injured after being struck by a tree on the Rum Creek Fire, located north of Galice, Oregon. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue immediately deployed a helicopter and personnel to the fire.

Upon their arrival, Taylor was airlifted out of the mountainous terrain to an awaiting Mercy Flights helicopter, which then transported him to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Despite lifesaving efforts, however, Taylor passed away from the injuries he sustained. Taylor was the operator of Sasquatch Reforestation, a company that contracted with the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Logan Harrison Taylor was honored on the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland and was included in the USFA’s annual report Firefighter Fatalities in the United States.
