On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Firefighter Janet Tracy was at the scene of a single vehicle non-injury crash on I-25 south of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. While providing aid and support to the scene, another firefighter who was repositioning a Caballo fire truck, struck her.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighter Tracy also served as the secretary for the department.
