Stephen P. Frye, Fire Chief

Chief Frye and members of his fire department were dispatched to a residential structure fire. Upon their arrival, firefighters found a working fire. Hose lines were advanced to attack the fire. Chief Frye led efforts at the back of the house and assisted with hose deployment.

Chief Frye suddenly collapsed. He was immediately assisted by other firefighters and by emergency medical responders standing by at the scene. CPR was provided, and an AED was attached. Chief Frye was moved to an ambulance where advanced life support care was continued, and he was transported to the hospital. Despite all efforts, Chief Frye was not revived and was pronounced dead shortly after midnight due to a heart attack.
