Firefighter Frenenski and the members of his fire department were participating in a vehicle extrication drill at a local training center. After a briefing, all firefighters donned their protective clothing for the start of the drill. Firefighter Frenenski was assigned to cut power to one of the vehicles being used for training.

As Firefighter Frenenski completed the cable cut at approximately 2021hrs, he stepped back and suffered a seizure. Other firefighters assisted with the removal of his protective clothing. An Emergency Medical Technician class was underway at the same facility, so assistance was offered from class members as well. An ambulance was dispatched and arrived on the scene. Firefighter Frenenski was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2358hrs as the result of a heart attack.
