Fire Engineer Massey participated in rigorous wildland fire fighting training while on-duty. He complained of being tired after the training and said that he had overexerted himself. He went off-duty at 0800hrs on May 20, 2017. He told his spouse that he was tired. At approximately 2200hrs, he collapsed and died as the result of a heart attack.
