Firefighter – Smokejumper Urban was participating in a series of parachute jumps to gather data for specialized safety equipment. On the second mission of the day, Firefighter – Smokejumper Urban jumped from an aircraft at 6000 feet. He was unable to deploy a parachute in a timely manner and was killed on impact.
