On September 16, Firefighter Eric Schaefer of the Baltimore City Fire Department was killed when a 1 1/2 foot thick granite wall collapsed on him while he was engaged in forcible entry at a multiple alarm fire in an old warehouse that had been converted to numerous shops and businesses.
