This 6-day course is a practical application of National Incident Management System Incident Command System (ICS)-300 knowledge and skills focused on the emergency medical services (EMS) aspects. Students will produce Incident Action Plans for various event and incident types.
Topics addressed to enable the effective management of the EMS components of planned events and complex incidents include:
- Identification of potential hazards.
- Support of specialized operations (e.g., hazardous materials, law enforcement, public health, search and rescue incidents, dignitary visits, and planned special events).
- Identifying resource needs and acquisition.
- Development of Incident Action Plans.
EMS officers who are responsible for management and planning for EMS responses and resources to planned events and complex incidents.
Personnel acting in, or on a promotion list for, this rank, capacity or responsibility will be considered with a letter from the agency head (chief) stating such.
- ICS-100-level and ICS-200-level training. Preferred courses are Q0462 and Q0463, available through NFA Online.
- IS-700.B, "An Introduction to the National Incident Management System."
- IS-800.C, "National Response Framework, an Introduction."
- Completion of National Fire Academy class "Emergency Medical Services: Incident Operations" (R0147 or N0147).
Chief's signature attests that the applicant has completed the ICS level 100, 200, 700.B and 800.C required training.
ICS-300-level training. Certificate must be submitted with application.
